From time to time I am asked is King’s Domain a place or a ministry? My reply is always yes – for it’s both! But perhaps it was never more clearly articulated than by a first time visitor who keenly observed that “King’s Domain is a place where people encounter God!”
No words could have better captured our heart and mission. King’s Domain is an incredibly beautiful place which we strive tirelessly to maintain to create an environment where whoever comes on our grounds will sense a peace and serenity that makes it easy for them to encounter the Living God.
Our vision is to see men and women and boys and girls from all walks of life, 365 days a year, encountering God through the place and ministry that bears the name of King’s Domain.
It’s impossible to predict how God might choose to “show up” but here’s a glimpse of how He has done so in the past:
- A weary pastor’s energy and hope is restored as he gets away to one of our cottages and communes with God as he walks the pristine woodlands of our 120 acres.
- An inner-city child comes to camp for the first time in her life and experiences the unconditional love of God through a most unexpected source…her cabin counselor, who is a college student from a different state.
- A college student whose life’s direction is altered because he invested his life in our Summer Project with college students from all over the country. As he pours himself into the young campers in his care, he experiences being used by God. He is never the same.
- A donor whose heart is so moved by what he experiences that he asks God to show Him how to free up more funds for charitable giving because “God is doing something very special here and I want to be a part of it.”
- A retiree whose selfless labor and “can do” spirit is merely a different expression of his devotion to His savior with whom he’s walked for decades.
- A youth pastor who expresses his thanks for our Momentum Camp that frees him from all the details of running summer camp so he can do what he does best and loves most…building into the young people in his youth group.
So King’s Domain is a place, a place where the church or members of our community can come to and enjoy however they choose. Whether it is merely hosting your group or partnering with you to help you achieve your desired outcome, we exist to serve you.
And King’s Domain is also a ministry. Our mission is to reclaim the culture for the Kingdom of God by being Kingdom focused, Christ centered, Biblically informed, and Spirit empowered. Our heart is to see people walking intimately with God, clarifying their calling from God, and strategically planning their work for God. (With God, From God, For God)
We labor toward that end by tirelessly striving to encourage, equip, and empower any in the Body of Christ who desire to live out Christ’s heart in the Lord’s Prayer, ”Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Therefore our desire is that every time you step foot on our property or interact with one of our staff, you will sense the presence of God. We trust that our staff will have such a winsome spirit, that it will draw others. And the only explanation for this attraction to others will be they have had a glimpse of the risen Christ living in the staff.
